Scratch Race 5 2^nd March 2025

Today’s competitors experienced the initial winds from Cyclone “Alfred,” which brought fresh southeast winds. The cyclone (Category 2) is currently off the coast of Bundaberg, moving down the coast and expected to make landfall near Brisbane later this week.

Following the excitement of the last race, an error was identified in the race results. The winning DF65 (Colin #35) was so far ahead that he was mistakenly recorded as finishing in last place!

The IOM class had a strong turnout with 18 boats, while the DF65 fleet consisted of seven boats, contending with both light winds and seaweed.

Sunday's racing event took place under ideal conditions, characterized by a high tide, warm temperatures, and clear skies. The Southeastern wind increased from 12 km/hr in the morning to slightly over 20 km/hr by noon.

We had a fleet of 13 IOMs and 5 DF65s and the day started off with challenging conditions for A rigs on the IOMs and DF65s…

The results of the Winter series for both IOM and DF65 as well as the Club Championship for IOM and DF65 shown the commitment from every member to the Sunday races of 2024.

The 2024 Sovereign cup didn’t disappoint! Many would have thought it would have been raining, but perfect sailing conditions made for a memorable day out on the lake!

With a record number of boats on the water and a table full of trophies we were set for a great morning on the water!

The weatherforecast for Sunday the first of December didn't look as good, but that didn't keep a large amount of IOMs from hitting the water…..

After Saturday’s downpour, Sunday turned out to be a warm and sunny day, perfect for racing. And what a day it was!

A large fleet of IOMs enjoyed another fantastic day of sailing at Manly marina. We had a gentle northeasterly breeze across the course, providing perfect conditions.

Once again, we all enjoyed a delightful day’s racing in the marina, with a high tide, great winds, and a warm, sunny Brisbane day.

This year’s Muir Marine 1650 Classic was a resounding success, with a great turnout and everyone having fun.

What a fantastic day for sailing! Everyone had a great time, enjoying the ideal race conditions.

Perfect weather and winds for the 2024 JL Sullivan/PG Kampe 2024 down at Manly Harbour

Despite the unexpected light wind conditions, both the IOM and DF65 fleets were well attended, and everyone enjoyed a great morning of sailing.

Queensland offered idyllic warm and sunny sailing conditions with light northeasterly winds. Although our numbers were somewhat depleted due to Father’s Day, the racing was more relaxed, making for a fun day.

Today’s event was the inaugural Vice Commodore’s Cup, generously donated by John McLachlan.
