Handicap Race 5 16th March 2025

After last week’s devastating cyclone "Alfred", we faced fickle North-Easterly winds, with the odd breath of pressure occasionally rolling down the course. As the morning rolled past the “wind” increased slightly, allowing eight heats to be run to complete race five in the Handicap Series.

We had a good turn out with eight DF65 and twelve IOM class boats out on the water.

Cyclone “Alfred” had generated quite a bit of debris that floated across the Marina. Skippers experienced the predictable result, watching their boat suddenly slow and everyone else passing them! The rescue boat was employed to collect large pieces, including two Crocs and Russell even wadded into the water to clear the keels of several boats.

Congratulations to Colin in the DF65 fleet for his first win!!

Despite the conditions, everyone had a great morning on the water. Once again, a big thank you goes out to the support team of scorers, fleet captains and BuoyBot operators.
