On Sunday, the DF65 Winter Handicap race was incorporated into the Eagleby Cup regatta, held at a new venue with excellent open water conditions.

The annual Sovereign Cup, one of four club regattas held each year, faced a one-week delay due to heavy rain. Despite today’s light and variable winds, coupled with occasional showers, we managed to run six races.

The weather forecast was for rain and on this day the forecast was correct!!

Despite a lousy forecast with over 30mm of rain expected, it was a lovely day on the harbour. Variable winds frustrated a lot of skippers and gave me a good laugh when they worked in my favour…

Thirteen hardy skippers turned up for the inaugural Easter Challenge. They were greeted by grey skies, light variablewind and drizzling rain which continued for most of the morning…

Yet another good morning on the harbour. Light breeze from the south east. 7x IOM and 9 x Df65 skippers took to the water to show us their sailing acumen.

…The rain cleared and the wind increased to a moderate south easter. (B rig for IOM and A rig for Df65). Well done to Noel and Slab who raced well with overpowered rigs…

A beautiful morning greeted 20 skippers (10 x Df65 and 10 x IOM). A steady 5knot South easterly breeze provided excellent racing conditions. Andrew set good courses for the two fleets using the Buoybots…

The last race for the year was also the xmas challenge and presentations for club champion as well as Winter scratch and handicap series winners. All topped off with a BBQ and drinks. What a day.
