Sovereign Cup 2024

Quiet day on the water.

The annual Sovereign Cup, one of four club regattas held each year, faced a one-week delay due to heavy rain. Despite today’s light and variable winds, coupled with occasional showers, we managed to run six races. The final race took place on glass-like water, creating a picturesque scene but less-than-ideal race conditions.

Phil capitalized on the challenging conditions and secured victory, while Lester and Geoff claimed 2nd and 3rd places. Athol’s sailing skill shone through in the fourth race, even if the score sheet didn’t fully reflect it—a commendable achievement, enjoy the Tim Tams!

A heartfelt shout-out goes to Russell, Don, John, and the marshals who orchestrated the regatta. Special kudos to Russell, who braved the rain in a kayak while we watched comfortably from Redlands’ new tent.
