DF65 Tall Rotating Stand Plans
A few people have asked about the tall rotating stand built for DF65s seen at our club. Recently a skipper from the UK asked for the plans and commented on the Beginners to Winners video “Set up and Boat Handling” (shown below). So I decided to put up some plans.
It’s a very basic stand to make, but does need some welding ability. They are very handy, and rotate to keep your boat headed into the wind. The height also means you don’t have to bend down so much when tuning your boat.
They can be made simple as pictured. If you are handy in the shed, than add bearings to the swivel parts to make it even better when tuning. Pic 3 shows the foot press to help push into the grass. Pic 6 shows the retaining washers welded on to the stainless pin to allow the keel holder to rotate as well as the main shaft.
Hope this helps those wanting to make one. If you are around Brisbane and can’t make one yourself, give me a holler and I’ll try to find the time to knock one up for you (no promises). The original design was from a gent up north QLD, but I can’t find his name to credit him.
As requested here is are some pics and a very rough plan.
