Inspiration Point 26th July 2024

Viewing Platform at Inspiration Point

The day began with light winds and a rising tide, introducing a new B2W dimension: ‘Leeway.’ With light winds and an opposing strong tidal current the fleet slid sideways, resulting in an early lunch since it was imposable to reach the top mark.

Fortunately, around lunchtime, the wind picked up, steadily increasing to 20-25 km/hr.

Sailing in the open sea was a novel and exhilarating experience. Beating upwind through the waves provided a thrilling challenge, followed by the joy of catching waves and surfing downwind.

However, an unexpected incident occurred involving Russell’s sandwiches. Upon returning to his seat, he discovered both his sandwiches and chocolate bar missing! Witnesses described the culprit as having large eyes, a wet nose, and big ears, scampering away with its tail wagging. Given that this area is a dog park, we should remain cautious in the future.

Special thanks to Russell for organizing the event and using his RIB (rigid inflatable boat) to set the course and provide rescue cover. The location is idyllic, and everyone had a fantastic time, eagerly anticipating a return.
