Clive Brooks & John McLachlan Trophies – Sunday 28th July 2024
Under sunny skies and warm sailing conditions, IOM and DF65 fleets converged for this year’s Clive Brooks and John McLachlan trophy event.
The morning’s handicap races posed a formidable challenge: light and variable Westerly winds played mischievous games with the nineteen competitors. Within mere metres, boats encountered divergent wind shifts, resulting in dramatic gains and losses. It was a true test of skill and adaptability (and luck).
After a delightful lunchtime sausage sizzle (kudos to Peter for manning the BBQ), sailors geared up for the afternoon’s scratch races. The wind intensified with a gusty Westerly breeze that kept everyone on their toes.
Don and Russell engaged in some remarkably close racing taking first and second places with just 0.9 points between them.
Passersby could not resist stopping to watch and ask about the racing during today’s event.
Today was a showcase of excellent racing and shared passion. Thanks to all.
